Jan 31st
Episode THREE: Rent Uncollected
COMING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1 on CW!
When Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) tells his parents (guest stars Robin Thomas and Susan Hogan) about Lux (Britt Robertson), they insist on planning a dinner at which they can meet their granddaughter and Cate (Shiri Appleby). Cate reluctantly agrees to go to the dinner and is further annoyed when her overbearing mother (guest star Cynthia Stevenson) and neurotic sister (guest star Alex Breckenridge) show up unexpectedly. Meanwhile, when Cate (Shiri Appleby) hears about a gang fight at Lux’s school, she immediately decides to have Lux transferred to her and Baze’s (Kristoffer Polaha) alma mater, Westmonte. Kerr Smith and Austin Basis also star. Executive producer Gary Fleder directed the episode written by executive producer Liz Tigelaar.

Britt Interview: Fond Memories
Jan 31st
GirlsLife.com interviews Britt Robertson from Life Unexpected:
Speaking of families, what’s life really like for the stars of the show? We caught up with 19-year-old Britt Robertson, who plays Lux, and had her dish on her own clan. What makes her mom so great? What does she love most about her BFF? Read on to find out…
Fond Memories
“We have a mirror [in our trailers] with lights and stuff so I tape pictures of my room and bed, my stuffed animals that I didn’t bring with me, my mom and family. I think all of us do this actually because Shiri [Appleby] has the same thing. Also, my best friend made me this collage of pictures of my friends and me right before I left at my going away party. [That’s in there, too].”
Home is Where the Heart is
Britt’s originally from South Carolina. So what’s it like visiting home when not busy working on the west coast? “I go home maybe twice a year, so when I go home, I cherish every single second that I have with my family,” she says. “It’s this amazing feeling, like happiness and gratitude and warmth. I just love the simple things like eating southern comfort food. We don’t have [food] like that in L.A. so it’s nice to go home and have my family cook for me.”
Monday: Rent Uncollected 1.03

The Trades/ R.J. Carter reports:
The cast of Life Unexpected gathers more players in this week’s episode, “Rent Uncollected.” Now that Nate (Kristoffer Polaha) and Cate (Shiri Appleby) have established joint custody of their newly-discovered teenaged daughter, Lux (Brittany Robertson), the rest of the family learns of the situation, due largely to Cate’s situation being being outed on her radio program through a call-in from Cate’s narcissistic therapist sister, Abbie.
Now not only does Cate’s boozehound of a cougar mother (Cynthia Stevenson) know about Lux, but so do Nate’s uppity old-money mom and dad — and none of them think Cate and Nate are mature enough to raise a child (even for two years — Lux will be eighteen in two years, after all). Abbie is simply annoying in her analysis of the two, but Nate’s father (Robin Thomas) has a bit more pull: he owns the building in which Nate has established his bar, and the rent is late this month. Making no bones about how he feels about Nate’s irresponsibility, he threatens to evict Nate, removing the main source of his income needed to care for Lux.
The stress of the extended family conflict adds to the already growing unease for Lux, who isn’t used to being parented — certainly not by parents who show concern about the school she goes to (which is described as a feeder system for the state penitentiary) and the friends she hangs out with, including Bug, her tattooed motorcycle riding boyfriend. Perhaps the old plan of running away to Mexico with her friends wasn’t such a bad idea after all? read more
Judy Manning @ Series.nu reviews the third episode and here is a snipit from the article:
The dinner conversation heats up when both Baze and Cate’s family agree that neither of them are capable of raising a child. Baze and his father have an argument about the fact that Baze can’t even pay rent on the bar which by the way he hasn’t paid this months’ rent. All the fighting causes Lux to bail on dinner and sneaks out of the dinner to ride off with her boyfriend, Bug (Rafi Gavron).
Will Baze come up with the rent or will his father make good on shutting down the bar?

Teen Television interviews BRITT ROBERTSON

TEEN TELEVISON: Interview with Britt Robertson [LUX]
Hey Britt, thanks for talking to us on your break. You are from a big family, seven kids, so is it kind of wish fulfillment to be in a TV show where you are an only child with a huge attic for a room?
Britt: Yeah, exactly! It definitely was different to play someone who comes from a small family when I come from this large family. I can relate a little bit because Lux kind of has this big ‘family’ background from being in group homes where you are constantly around kids.
There is this flashback episode where you get to see her childhood a little bit so there were moments where I could relate to my own big family. But some of (what Lux experiences) is like a fish out of water (to me).
Do you sometimes feel like your friends are your family, like Lux does?
Britt: Definitely. When I’m in Los Angeles, my family isn’t out there with me. They’re back in South Carolina so I have to establish my own family and living here (Vancouver) as well, our cast and our crew are our family and my friends back home are my family. I went back home this past weekend. I call them my ‘faux’ family. I lived with them for about a year, went home, slept on their couch and their beds. I love them so I could connect with Lux in that way. read much more
lifeUNEXPECTED theme song: Beautiful Tree
Jan 28th
Ah, finally a lifeUNEXPECTED theme song. I think the song is a PERFECT match for the series. Like “life”, Rain’s song, Beautiful Tree, is heartfelt, upbeat, and the lyrics are real and meaningful! I also really like her video’s earthy and carefree style. Get your copy of Cinderblock Bookshelves for more of Rain’s awesome tunes.
